The US Supreme Court about P2P Networks

The US Supreme Court heard a case today which involves a lawsuit against Grokster and DreamCast brought by the RIAA and Hollywood (represented in Court by the MGM).

The point of law here is really inchoate offences: facilitating and preparing a crime. And the goal for the Hollywood industry would be to get a verdict against these networks for the crimes committed by some users (in fact, most of them according to the PEW Report).

The verdict is not to be seen before June.
